Microsoft Flops with Vista but Stabilizes Browser Market – Chrome No Big Deal......

Park City, UT –  Janco and the IT Productivity Center have just released its Browser and Operating System Market Share White Paper.  The major findings are that Microsoft’s IE browser market share has stabilized and rebounded a little and now is 73.01% versus 71.92% in November 2007 and 85.04% (loss of 12.03%) in November 2005; Firefox has maintained its number 2 browser position and now is used by almost 17% (16.70%) of all users; and Google with its Desktop and Chrome has over 3% (3.11%) of the market.

On the Operating System front, Microsoft's' Vista has just over 17% (17.32%) of the market after almost 22 months since Vista's first release (RC1).  Victor Janulaitis, the CEO of Janco said, "Both Vista and Netscape show that large companies make huge blunders in technology.  In the case of Microsoft, they no longer can count on moving users to new products as quickly as they want. But the real story is the continued stabilization of Microsoft’s browser market share."

Janco’s has collected consistent data on browser activity since September 1997.  The data is collected from commercial sites that focus on business to business activity.

A summary of Janco’s white paper can be found on the Janco’s web site (http://www.e-janco.com/browser.php) and the IT Productivity Center’s web site (http://www.itproductivity.org/browser.php).  In addition the full white paper with excel spread sheets can be purchased at both sites for $249.
